Welcome to The Riflemans Arms
A distinctive black and white pub situated on the main A6 road in the historic town of Belper, the new curators of the Rifleman’s Arms, have brought this traditional British pub up to date, with a contemporary collection of cask and craft keg beers, world wines and hot and cold bar snacks to boot. Think Darts and dominoes rather than burgers and bok choy.
With it’s eclectic mix of contemporary art and punk memorabilia, the Rifleman’s Arms is a cosy pair of slippers where you can rest your feet after a hectic day, or meet for a catch up with family or friends.
Belper is the only market town located at the heart of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The Derwent Valley is universally recognised as the Cradle of the Industrial Revolution and holds World Heritage Status. Visitors can make use of the Devonshire’s car park opposite the Rifleman’s Arms.

The table was reserved in the side area off the main bar big enough for 10 / 12 very comfortably and almost like a private dinner serviced room. Wasn’t expecting to be out of the main sitting areas, an unexpected bonus for a Family gathering.
The booking process could not have been more friendly and welcoming on the phone, gave us reassurance. The pub location – Just on the A6 in Belper, can’t miss it, large car park handy as raining and didn’t have to walk there. The food was superb, really was, traditional and generous portioned perfectly cooked roast beef, Pork and wish and chips for the grandchildren, all presented at same time… not always the case when kitchens are busy. The service – friendly, smiling attentive staff all focused on 100% customer service, felt well cared for throughout. The cost – subjective I know but we all felt we had excellent value for money, right pricing where you don’t feel you’ve been overcharged for the menu and drinks we enjoyed.
I’ve chosen to write the above solely as when your expectations are exceeded at every level it should be acknowledged for the team delivering it and for anyone considering a visit – give it a try…
All the best the Devonshire , they deserve it
